When I was a young apprentice, I told myself that I wanted to stand out and win something for myself and my Salon. So, I entered an Industry Magazine Contest and won 2nd Place! It may not have been 1st place, but I was still proud, and got a half-page ad in the magazine! The funny thing was that the model in the photograph was my friend’s brother and had no modeling experience . Also, the photographer was my friend Peter whom also was not a professional photographer, but we won anyway! Special thanks to Steven Napoles (model) and Peter Napoles (photographer).
This was a wonderful shoot with my friend Fallon Quillen. Fallon owns Etoile Boutique, an amazing local clothing store. She called me up one day and asked me if I’d style Kaleigh Baker’s (an up-and-coming Blues Singer) hair. I said, “Definitely!” Kaleigh was absolutely wonderful to work with and so chill and hilarious. In this shoot we went for 40′s-style hair with a modern twist in the 1st, 3rd and 4th photos. In the 2nd photo, Fallon and and I improvised on how Kaleigh’s body and hair should be posed. We chose more of a late 60′s look, like Janis Joplin. I enjoyed whiskey shots with Kaleigh and Fallon after the shoot and spoke of music and good times. Super fun day! Special thanks to Fallon Quillen, Kaleigh Baker and the Matador Lounge.
